We will be creating new social skills videos soon! Does anyone have any ideas for video topics they would like to see?? We also may do quick 30 second clips that directly teach each skill. Any thoughts on those?
For younger kids, I'd like to see one on being a good sport (and not a sore loser). Another topic that I often work on and would a video for is the concept of social filtering thoughts and what to say out load.
I work in a high school. Some of my students with HFA have poor hygiene. How about a video showing the nonverbal social reactions of peers to the smells and lack of hygiene?
I work in a high school. I have students with HFA who listen only briefly and then quickly say a summary of what they think the other person is going to say so they can then continue saying whatever they wanted to say. Perhaps a video showing this and the reactions of two other conversation partners.
We have a video coming out soon called "Washing Hands" - it's a social short, so it really just shows the steps of proper hand washing, it doesn't have thought bubbles. To be honest, we almost did what you're describing, but we were a little hesitant to do it because we weren't sure we could pull it off - it's a tricky one! We'll think about it some more and see if we can figure out a way to do it to get the point across without offending.
We have one similar to this, although it's a bit different than what you described - search for "Saying Too Much" - it's in our Advanced Conversation Skills - Younger Collection.
