I'd be interested in sharing ideas about using these videos with middle and high school students.
That would be awesome Jean! I work primarily with middle and high school students and would love to talk about some ideas. What do you find is most difficult when teaching social skills? I created the newer videos with my students in mind who are working on perspective taking.
Hear are the issues my Junior High students have the most difficulty with that I hear from teachers and parents. 1. Picking up on social cues in the general education classroom setting. I am suggesting to them to look at their peers-what are they doing? Task initiation 2. Making comments under their breath, even if appropriate. 3. Talking too long when answering questions in class. 4. Not asking for clarification and help--they sit and do nothing instead of asking. Thanks!
I have a few students who are copying inappropriate behavior. One because he thinks it's cool, even having some students encouraging him to swear.
